Municipal Court
Cisco Municipal Court is open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Fridays, in person, by appointment ONLY.
Phones will NOT be answered on Fridays.
The Cisco Municipal Court was established by the City of Cisco Home Rule Charter in 1921. The court hears all Class C Misdemeanor cases that occur within the corporate limits of the city, including violations of state law and city codes.
The Municipal Court is presided over by Judge Richard Butler and Associate Judge Tammy Osborne who effect fair and impartial administration of said court under the laws of this city and state.
IMPORTANT
If your appearance or court date falls on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, City Holiday, or day that offices are closed due to inclement weather, your appearance or court date will automatically default to the next regular business day.

Juvenile Defendants (under the age of 17) must appear before the Court in person and with a parent.
Minors with alcohol offenses (under the age of 21) must appear in person before the Court.
Deferred Disposition & Driver Safety Course
You MAY be able to have your citation dismissed upon completion of a Driver Safety Course or Deferred Disposition.

DRIVER’S SAFETY COURSE
STEP 1
Make sure you meet these requirements:
• I do not have a Commercial Driver's License.
• My alleged speed was LESS THAN 95 miles per hour.
• I was driving less than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit.
• I have not taken a Driver's Safety Course for a citation in the last 12 months.
• I am not currently taking a Driver's Safety Course for another citation, nor have I
requested to take a Driver's Safety Course for another citation.
STEP 2
Call the Court and request to take a Driver's Safety Course within 20 days of the violation date: (254) 442-1762.
STEP 3
Gather the following and mail them to Cisco Municipal Court, PO Box 110, Cisco TX 76437
1. Copy of Driver’s License
2. Copy of insurance
3. Copy of citation
4. Payment of $150 (NO personal checks. Mail money order or pay online at cityofcisco.com)
5. Certified copy of driving record Type 3A from:
www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/driverrecords.htm
6. Read, sign and notorize (sign in front of a Notary Public) the following affidavit:
PLEA AND NOTORIZED STATEMENT FOR DRIVER SAFETY COURSE
I hereby enter a plea of Nolo Contendere to the offense charged and ask the court to grant time to
take a Driver Safety Course or Motorcycle Operator Course.
I am not currently taking a course under Section 45.0511 CCP, nor have I completed a course under
this subsection that is not yet reflected on my driving record.

STEP 4
You then have 90 days to complete the Driver's Safety Course and provide the course certificate to the court.
You may take a Driver's Safety Course in person or choose a course available online. Be sure the online course
you choose is a Texas Driver's Safety Course approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
(TDLR). Providers do NOT send the certificate to the court; it is up to you to mail the original signed certificate
to the Court.

DEFERRED DISPOSITION
CONDITIONS
• Defendants with a Commercial Driver's License are not eligible for Deferred
Disposition.
• Speeding 25 mph or more over the limit violations are not eligible for
Deferred Disposition.
• Driving While License Invalid / Suspended violations are not eligible for
Deferred Disposition. Deferral payment made without special permission will
be rejected.
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia violations are not eligible for deferral.

• No Liability Insurance violations are not eligible for Deferred Disposition.

REQUIREMENTS
• Enter a plea of Guilty or No Contest.
• Payment of fine and court costs plus $75 special expense fee (NO personal
checks; mail a money order or cashier's check or pay online at
cityofcisco.com/court.html).
• Successfully complete a probation period, usually 30-90 days, receiving no
further traffic violations in the state.
• Drivers under the age of 25 will be approved by the court in limited
circumstances and must also complete a Driver’s Safety Course.
Alternative Options
If you are financially unable to pay, other options such as payment plans and/or community service are available. You MUST contact the court for approval of alternative options .If you are unable to pay and unable to complete alternative options, the Court will hear sworn testimony and evidence concerning your financial situation to help resolve this matter. In severe instances, the judge can reduce or dismiss fines and court costs upon hearing sworn testimony, depending on the severity of your financial status.
Know Your Rights
- You must always enter a plea before a judgement can be rendered.
- You have the right to hire an attorney. The Cisco Municipal Court is not required to provide a court appointed attorney.
- You have the right to plead "not guilty" and appear at a trial by judge or a trial by jury with a required $200.00 Appearance Bond filed with the court.
- You have the right to enter a plea of "no contest" or "guilty". Upon conviction, a judgement with fine/costs will be rendered.
- You have the right to appeal a judgement of this court to the Eastland County Court by providing this court with an Appeal Bond for twice the amount of the judgement.
- If you are financially unable to pay a fine/costs, you have alternative options, including requesting a 30-day extension, requesting a payment plan, or, in certain circumstances, requesting community service.
- You may have a right to use jail credit to satisfy fines/costs owed if you were confined in jail or prison after the date of the alleged offense.
- You may be entitled to a waiver of fines due to indigence or insufficient resources to pay if discharging the fine through community service would impose an undue hardship.

- You must contact the Court for permission before paying Deferral, Defensive Driving, or making partial payments.
- You will need the following before proceeding with your credit card payment:
- Amount that you need to pay
- Citation number listed on your ticket or Docket/Cause number
- Agreeing to make a payment online constitutes a plea of 'no contest' to the violation.
- A fee is charged for electronic payment.
- Payment will not be processed until the next business day. If there is a warrant for your arrest, it will not be recalled until the day the payment is posted.
- You will receive a confirmation email once the payment is processed.
